Confined Space Rescue

Our team formation can be adapted to suit any project. However, our most common is a three man team. The FIT team will consist of three emergency service professionals – an officer in charge and two BA entry operatives. The roles and responsibilities of each team member is as follows:-

Officer In Charge (OIC)
The OIC will conduct a safety brief prior to any entry being made.In the event of a rescue the OIC will action the predetermined rescue plan. He will then instruct/guide the BA entry team should they be committed to the confined space with constant monitoring and communication. All paperwork in the FIT rescue safety folder will be the responsibility of the OIC.The OIC will act as the first aider once the casualty has been evacuated from the confined space. He will also monitor the health and safety of those working in the confined space and all equipment being used. The OIC will supervise all handovers to the emergency services. All members of the FIT team are trained in top man duties and can be utilised on site if required.
BA Entry Personnel
The remaining two members of the team will be committed to the confined space under BA with the supervision of the OIC should a rescue be required.Once the team has gained entry to the confined space via a safe entry point a dynamic risk assessment will be performed to determine which type of rescue/aid is required. When the team feel it is safe for the casualty to be evacuated the team will perform a snatch/line rescue to move the casualty to the predetermined safe working area and if required more first aid will be carried out.
